Title: Administrative and Communications Assistant

Location: Washington, DC

Reports to: Artistic Director

Status: Part-time, hourly paid

Begins: On or about October 9, 2017

Position Description: Chamber Dance Project is seeking an outstanding, outgoing, detail-oriented, and responsible administrative assistant to the Artistic Director with work across all communications platforms and event support. With excellent performance, there is potential for growth in this position.

  • Works with and reports to the Artistic Director
  • 15 hours/week 48 weeks/year: flexible schedule working 6 hours in office two non-consecutive days Monday- Thursday between 9-5pm and 3 hours/week remotely
  • Beginning at $16/hour with possible increase to $17/hour after three months with an excellent performance review
  • Paid monthly
  • Additional work hours at events and performances
  • Company phone line and front office support
  • Hired as an independent contractor, own laptop computer required

Job Responsibilities

     Ongoing

  • Social Media: manages campaigns across all platforms including generating content
  • Patron Relations: generate written acknowledgements, evites, other communication
  • Bi-weekly e-newsletter: generate content, edit, send and track bi-weekly
  • Office: Maintain filing system and organization for materials and documents, organize and schedule meetings, work with other staff as needed
  • Database: ongoing management and updating of Excel records
  • Board: assists in scheduling Board and Committee meetings, ongoing communication and support as needed

Seasonal

  • May-June Season: Coordinate season schedules, travel and logistics with artists, assist with promotion and other administrative areas as needed
  • Events and Gala: assist in event planning, ticket tracking, silent auction, reception and administrative support at events
  • Touring/Residencies: work on cultivating potential residencies for the company and manage logistics remotely for 2018 and beyond

Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge Required

  • 4-year college degree required
  • 2-3 years of administrative experience – Arts Administration experience preferred
  • Proactive, responsible and outgoing approach to work and people we work with
  • Excellent ability to organize, prioritize, and manage diverse tasks while meeting deadlines with great attention to quality, detail and accuracy of work
  • Takes initiative in anticipating and solving challenges
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel and mail merge function
  • Proficiency in evite platforms
  • Thorough knowledge of and experience in managing Social Media campaigns: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest
  • Excellent and thoroughly accurate written communications
  • Outgoing and personable manner in interacting with artists, the Board, and
  • Experience in arts administration is preferred
  • Must have own laptop with Excel/Microsoft Office to work on – Mac preferred
